Chiari 1 Malformation and Multiple Sclerosis

by Tabatha
(Lima, Ohio)

In February of 2012, I was diagnosed with having Chiari 1 Malformation and Multiple Sclerosis. I have had a very hard time finding a doctor that will treat the Multiple Sclerosis due to the Chiari. It is now July of 2012 and I still have no answers or treatment. This article has been helpful. I was wondering if there has been any research that links the two together? I have done alot of research but as of this day have not found a link between the two. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Chiari 1, MS and Upright MRI
by: Dr. Flanagan

Hello Tabatha,

There is a great deal of indirect evidence linking Chiari 1 type malformations to multiple sclerosis. Upright MRI is currently contributing further direct evidence. Dr. Raymond Damadian, the founder of FONAR Corporation and upright MRI scanners did a study linking trauma to multiple sclerosis. Studies are currently being done by Dr. Scott Rosa, an Atlas Orthogonal chiropractor, using FONAR phase contrast cine upright MRI that are linking multiple sclerosis and other neurodegenerative diseases to Chiari malformations and trauma.

Be determined!

I have no information as to Chiari 1 Malformation, or how it will cause you to have problems medically or emotionally. However, as I do have an extremely aggressive case of M.S., I can certainly understand what you must be feeling and the difficulty of finding the answers to questions you certainly will have.

There may be some medical advice coming to you from the most unlikely sources if you can start to reach out over the internet to medical clinics and hospitals that have Doctors that have some specialty in the areas of treatment.

I do not understand what issues a treatment for your M.S. would have to do with your having Chiari 1? Have you been given any details as to the nature of what difference it makes? I am far from an expert on anyone else's medical concerns but I can share that I do not have any "normal" treatments for my M.S., as the prescribed treatments originally given to me, only made my M.S. get worse within a 48 hour time period; (interferon based treatments for me are nothing more than chemical torture). Interferon (for me) as to how it is designed to make your immune system slow down or not be so powerful, to cause a slowing in how your immune system via your MS will attack your nerves...well for me my body fights back so hard after a 48 hour time period, the results are horrific. So excuse my verbal choices, I told my medical doctors they can "shit can" the interferon. I have found better results by keeping my stress levels down, diet, and I have been using 3 grams per day of A.H.C.C. I was on death's door and not able to walk. I also have some blood cleansing done. I am a firm believer that as far as MS is concerned, you will have perhaps issues with it if you have certain proteins in your blood that "trigger" M.S. and it will affect you in a negative fashion.
Please do keep posting things here so everyone can share thoughts or information with you. How do you feel? Are you having difficulties with your motor skills? Tell us what your body and health is like. Lastly, be determined to do your own "digging" for answers and results. No one else is going to "push" for you if you are not pushing yourself for your own needs within MS and treatments. Stay determined and if you have a faith in God, please toss a prayer or two a day for help and guidance to him. I do and I think it helps very much. Bless you and I hope you find more to help you.
